Hi YASU family! This is Yasemin Sabuncu and I am the name behind the brand.

I’ve always been fascinated by nature and its mysterious creations. I wanted to create work that highlights the beauty and disorder of mother nature. My goal as a designer is to create with respect to my surroundings and resources, therefor I chose to use excess marble and granite as my main materials. I believe that my responsibility as a designer is to raise awareness about and emphasize the importance of material and resource usage during the process of production. My growing concern about environmental issues encouraged me to build a brand that helps reduce waste, especially in the natural materials realm, by creating beautiful objects out of what some may call trash.

I’m a Turkish product designer born and raised in Istanbul. I’ve spent 8 of my 26 years in the capitol of chaos, creation and inspiration that is also known as New York. My experience and learnings from my work for Roche Bobois and Fernando Mastrangelo Studio, led me to start my own brand. Using the resources of my family company Granit Center, I established YASU Living in December of 2020.
